Bio
Carole has been an Educational Designer at CSU since 2006, working with academics to encourage and facilitate good practice in learning design and to develop high quality learning resources and environments using blended media. While currently working with the School of Agriculture and Wine Sciences, she has also worked in the Schools of Accounting and Computer Science, as well as the School of Communication. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney, as well as a Master of Education (Educational Technology) from the University of Southern Queensland, and was joint recipient of the CSU Faculty of Business team teaching excellence award in 2007.
Carole is also an Educational Technologist within the Strategic Learning and Teaching Innovations group, supporting other educational designers to develop high quality multimedia resources and to research and investigate new technologies for use in learning and teaching. As part of this role she leads CSU’s ePortfolio Project, which has involved undertaking an extensive ePortfolio needs analysis, including management, academics, educational designers and students, and facilitating the selection and implementation of CSU’s ePortfolio system, Pebblepad. This role has complemented Carole’s own Masters research on a responsive approach to implementing ePortfolios in a university context.
Carole has a strong history in teaching and educational publishing in a range of contexts, including Australia, Maldives, Samoa and Fiji. Prior to CSU, Carole was an instructional designer at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji where she held leading roles in a number of significant projects for the Pacific, including the Ausaid-funded development of the Bachelor of Education (primary) programme, and coordinating a suite of subjects delivered via video-broadcast.
Carole’s current interests lie in the effective use of ePortfolios to support a more holistic approach to learning.
