The Faculty of Arts is a diverse Faculty covering a broad range of disciplines including performing and visual arts, art history, communications, human services, justice studies, policing and law enforcement, theology, psychology, sociology, literature, philosophy and history.
The Faculty is made up of seven schools:
- Australian Graduate School of Policing
- Communication
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- School of Policing Studies
- Social Science and Liberal Studies
- Theology
- Visual and Performing Arts
Courses in the Faculty of Arts have earned a reputation for innovation and excellence.
The Faculty offers professional courses with strong industry links and opportunities for professional placement and practice, as well as generalist courses in the humanities and social sciences.
A wide range of postgraduate research courses which are relevant to professional and vocational needs are offered, with research centres in Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics, Excellence in Policing and Security, Rural Social Research (within the Institute for Land, Water and Society) and Public and Contextual Theology providing links with associates worldwide.
The Faculty of Arts’ police education programs, developed and offered in collaboration with the police service, have seen CSU become a leading provider of policing and law enforcement education.
Innovative courses responding to industry demand, and programs which combine vocational preparation with opportunities for broader studies, characterise the Faculty.

The Faculty Office provides the academic leadership and management of the Faculty, including strategic planning, financial resource management, information management and human resource management, as well as the provision of effective and efficient administrative and secretarial services.
